Alliance to Protect Patients (ATPP) is an organization dedicated to reversing the trend of declining reimbursement and reducing wasteful spending within the healthcare industry. Our mission is to advocate for policies that will lead to better access and treatment for all patients. Our goal is to work towards ensuring that patients have access to the medical equipment and mobility solutions they need for their well-being.
Declaration of ATPP
When in the course of modern events, harm arises to those for whom we have sworn sacred oaths, an obligation emerges to rebuke those seeking bounty on the maladies of our charges. Accordingly, we who are trained in the traditions of medicine, nursing, and pharmacy no longer tolerate the intolerable; namely, the exploitation of our patients by systems and entities that offer far less than the value they demand or extract.
United in purpose but fragmented in alliance for far too long, we unite now in common cause to fulfill the same sacred roles entrusted to our predecessors that bind us presently. We now assume a unified mantle, seeking to secure vitality threatened by pernicious forces akin in virulence and scope to plagues and calamities of eras past. In our unique positions, we anticipate the demise of our people’s capacity to innovate, thrive, and render care to one another effectively; should not an intervention be made with equal parts intensity and alacrity?
With the goal of preserving our potential for good and in harmony with principles true since Hippocrates, Nightingale, and Procter, we uphold that the foundation of healing is set in the sacred tie between healer and patient. Towards that end, aid and counsel have always been sought from the other professions to support that healing bond, but not supplant it. Presently, the complexity of modern medicine diverted our focus and fractured our unity, allowing peripheral entities to usurp our privileged roles to the detriment not only of the patient and healer, but existentially to the systems of healing as a whole.
Therefore, this Declaration of Coalition is drafted in recognition of the mortal threat these bad actors represent and our unwillingness to forfeit our obligation to lead. In moments of critical illness, we have a tradition of coming together to render our shared expertise for the purposes of resuscitation. Likewise, as if at the bedside of the ailing, but accentuated in importance by the criticality of scale, we come together with unified intent to oppose the institutionalized dysfunction promulgated by the usurpers that threaten our ability to heal.
